Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show 2012

Margaret Newcomb kisses Rocky at Westminster 2012

Lehigh Valley native Margaret Newcomb, now of New York City, kisses Rocky, mother Connie Newcomb’s smooth coat Chihuahua, in the benching area at the 136th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

I showed Rocky this year at the 136th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show as a Grand Champion!

The competition was fierce, and DeeDee the # 1 smooth coat took breed, a repeat of last year.

We hit all the specialty shows and the Doggie Fashion show which can only be described as colorful and a bit crazy!

This year we stayed at the Eventi Hotel, which I highly recommend. Rocky was the center of attention in their gorgeous lobby. We had a blast!

You can see more pictures from the show on The Morning Call website.

Rocky & Margaret’s photo was also featured with the article “Dogs hit the gym before Westminster show” on the front section of the newspaper’s print edition. Here’s an excerpt…

Some owners are lucky. They have breeds that require little grooming or exercise.Diminutive Rocky, a 6-pound Chihuahua, doesn’t need much work other than walks to keep him in shape, said owner Connie Newcomb of South Whitehall Township. “He’s one of those dogs that loves to be at a show,” she said.

But one trick does improve his show performance. “He gets a little filet mignon,” Newcomb said. “I cut it up into pieces. And he knows that’s the special show treat.”
