The Lehigh Valley shows

Lehigh Valley Kennel ClubOn December 17th, the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club held its dog show in Allentown at what us locals call “Ag Hall”.

This is the all purpose building next to the Farmers market in Allentown. It was a nice short drive for me. I arrived to a very crowded show with Rocky and Bill. Everything was decorated for Christmas, little trees , lights and cookies were everywhere. The rings were so close together, there was no room to breath and the dogs were a little nervous. After so many shows of majors breaking, this one held. Five dogs showed up including a new puppy shown by a breeder handler who always wins. Bill was awful on the table but moved beautifully. He got reserve. I was bummed of course that the new pup won, even though Bill was just as nice.

On to The breed ring, Rocky got dumped even though he also showed well. It was not our day.

I had a delicious Italian sausage for lunch with my friends and I felt better.

On Sunday The Delaware Water Gap Kennel Club held it’s show in the same location. Our ring time was a little later so it was less crowded, and much more pleasant.

Bill again showed well, but came in second. Rocky got select champion dog which was nice because he went over a high end special. I stayed for a while and chatted with the dog people. It was interesting to note how my group of friends has evolved in the Chihuahua ring. Some of us are really sporting some pretty dogs and the competition has gotten fierce. I try not to get caught up in it, I just want to have fun. I entered Rocky in Westminster as a Grand Champion which is exciting.

I can’t believe it’s the end of the year. Happy Holidays to all, Best wishes for 2012! Looking forward to Westminster in February!
