It was hard to look at the photo of the little dog in the article I just read. From ruff to regal, staggering transformation of rescued Cavalier King Charles Spaniel after passers-by thought he was a pile of trash. [source: DailyMail]
I help out at one of our local shelters. It is a no kill facility where they do the best they can to care for all their stray animals. The other day my friend from the shelter emailed me a photo that was much worse then the one of the little dog from Montreal. The photo came with a warning, this is hard to look at. It showed two small Chihuahuas that had been scalded, badly burned and abandoned. No one knows how they were injured. They were found, fortunately and immediately taken to the shelter and medical treatment. The young dogs were treated and are doing well after many weeks of care. There have been a lot people interested in adopting them.
There are far too many dog stories with sad endings, at least these three little dogs will have a second chance.
His rescuers thought at first he was a discarded toy or even a piece of garbage – but on closer inspection they realized it was a little Cavalier King Charles having a seriously ruff time of it.
Found roaming the streets of Montreal last week, the little mut’s coat had grown so thick and caked in filth that he was almost unrecognizable as a pedigree dog.
Picked up by the Quebec Society for the Protection of Animals and given a bath and a very close shave, the dog was transformed from hobo to regal in a matter of moments.
Following are some of the pictures of the amazing transformation of this dog. [source: DailyMail] Photos © Quebec Society for the Protection of Animals
