Westminster Diaries, 2014 : The Chihuahua Club of Greater New York Show (Day 2)

Westminster Diaries 2014 by Connie Newcomb : 2/9/14 - The Chihuahua Club of Greater New York Show (Day 2)One more show before Westminster. Rocky and I were both tired and I think Rocky would have preferred to stay in bed. Margaret and I went to the show together. Jim got to stay in bed. It was very crowded at the specialty show. I was hardly paying attention by this time. Rocky showed beautifully as always but we did not do anything. It was nice to see some friends but as soon as we finished up and we went to lunch at the hotel. The rest of the day was spent eating and drinking which was not a good way to spend the day before Westminster. But I did anyway.

I was so excited to have my son join us, Andrew came in from Boston to see the show. We all had dinner at Eleven Madison Park. This is one of the most elegant restaurants in New York City. The menu is prix-fix and the courses are endless. There is much theatre in the presentation as well. From delicate lobster and cavier dishes to foie gras, roasted duck and decadent chocolate covered pretzels, everything was perfection. When I got back to the hotel I thought there was no way I’m going to get up in the morning to make it to Westminster. We set the alarm for 5:30AM to get to the Piers for an 8:30 ring time.

Westminster, here we come.
